Paris Hilton and Duchess Sussex spoke about stereotypes on a recent episode of Archetypes podcast
Meghan Markle took to the streets of Montecito on Friday afternoon after making controversial comments on her podcast. She claimed that she felt “objectified” working as a briefcase girl for the “Deal or No Deal” game show over 15 years ago.
As she made her way through a few shops with a friend, the Duchess Of Sussex wore an olive-green strapless jumpsuit with sandals. She also tied her long, dark brown hair in a loose braid and covered her face with a wide-brimmed cap.
After a conversation on her podcast “Archetypes”, Markle (41) was criticized for admitting that she has had difficulty finding a job due to her appearance. She had spent many years studying international relations.
“I was grateful for the job, but not for how it made my feel. This was… not smart. Markle stated that she was surrounded on the stage by smart women who were also there with me. But that was not the main reason we were there. I would leave with a pit in my stomach knowing that I was more than the objectification on the stage.
Markle joined the show as a briefcase 11-12 and 24 during at least 30 episodes. She was there until her last stint in 2007.
Paris Hilton sympathized completely with the typecasting producers placed upon anyone in front a camera. She was also known as a “dumbblonde” from “The Simple Life”. with Nicole Richie.
Hilton said, “Like at that time, it wasn’t encouraged, almost.” It was cute to be like, stupid and bubbly, and that blonde thing.
Hilton said, “Like I look at it now. And I’m like… I think it’s so cool to be smart and intelligence. But back then, it almost seemed like they wanted… girls like that in someway.”
Markle replied, “Yeah it was glorified.” It’s not just here. And it’s certainly not unique to this decade. This is a global phenomenon. This is the idea of women dumbing down and women dumbing down themselves.
Markle’s words were criticized from all angles, including backlash by former models who appeared on the show hosted by Howie Mandel. Whoopi Goldenberg, co-host of “The View”, said that Markle’s words were “TV, baby.” What did you really think you were going on to? That’s exactly what the show was.”
The game’s long-running guessing contest, in which contestants had to eliminate briefcases worth.01 million to $1,000,000 and make deals for grand prizes with “The Banker”, was first broadcasted in 2005. It officially ended in 2019.
“Everyone was aware of their roles, understood the image, auditioned and volunteered for the job. I don’t share her experience in any way. “I never felt objectified,” Patricia Kara, former “Deal or No Deal” model, told Fox News Digital.
Markle also disclosed that there were several beauty stations backstage in preparation for the game show, including one where you could add padding to your bra.
“There is no truth in the padding station. Kara stated that she has never seen such a thing in all the years she worked on the show.
Donna Feldman, Fox News Digital: “Instead of feeling like a bimbo,” she said.
