Can they be kept? Casper was a hit from the moment it debuted in 1995. It is still a Halloween classic over twenty years later.
Casper was based on the Harvey Comics character with the same name. He starred Bill Pullman in the role of James Harvey, a spirit expert who moves to Maine with his daughter Kat ( Christina Ricci ) after his wife’s death.
The father-daughter couple settles into their new lives and realize that they are sharing their space with four ghosts. They include Casper (voiced and played by Devon Sawa), Stinkie, Fatso and Stretch (Joe Nipote), and Stinkie (Joe Alaskey). Casper falls in love quickly with Kat. However, their budding relationship is complicated by his troublemaking relatives who will do anything to keep the house theirs.
Casper was a cult film that made Ricci a star, but the actress looks back with disdain at her performance in the supernatural dramedy.

Sawa, her costar, sees the experience differently.
“Christina Ricci has a huge talent and played a major part in me getting this role. She then recommended me for Now and Then. She is my hero. #casper” was the Idle Hands Star who wrote via Twitter about the Addams Family Values actress in May 2020. He also said that his brief appearance in the film was nothing to Malachi Pearson, who voiced Malachi’s ghost before he brought him back to life at the end.
“I was in Casper for thirty seconds. Malachi Pearson did all the hard work. For his part, the Chucky actor has been open about his connection with Ricci over time — and his willingness for an onscreen smooch or two with the Ice Storm star , who he also starred with in Now, and Then.

Sawa was the opposite of Ricci in Then, which was also the year he got his first role as Casper. He went on to star in Idle Hands (99) and Last Destination (2000). The Little Giants actor appeared in Eminem’s music clip for “Stan” in 2010 and was then offered a leading role on the CW’s spy drama Nikita.
Sawa was back in horror, appearing as a star in BlackFriday and then on SyFy’s Chucky that year. Sawa appeared as a guest on the HBO Max show Hacks, which was a critically acclaimed series that featured Jean Smart.
