Teddi Mellencamp Reveals She Has Been Diagnosed With Stage 2 Melanoma: ‘This Has Been Such a Wakeup Call’

Teddi Mellencampopened herself about her latest health struggles and also revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma.

“Melanoma information update. Despite my fear, I took my time with the doctor and attended the third time in a row for a skin check-up this week following my last Melanoma diagnosis,” the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star 41-year-old posted on Instagram on Tuesday, October 11 with a picture of an injury in her left shoulder. “They informed me that I had another abnormal spot in the vicinity of my previous one, so they performed an ultrasound. I got a phone call this morning”Stage 2 Melanoma. The next Wednesday, I’m going to see an oncologist for it to be removed and then come up with a plan of action for the next steps.”

The reality TV star revealed that the cancer of the skin resulted through “putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan” when I was a teenager in the early ’90s. Moreover, not “wearing sunscreen” or “getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old.”

“I desperately wanted to let this go. What would happen in three weeks?’ asked myself. Evidently quite a lot,” she wrote before ending her post with the need to take act.

“This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in,” she wrote.

It’s not an the first time Mellencamp has talked about her battle of the melanoma. The Indiana native was reported in March that her former castmate Kyle Richards visited her doctor after noticing that her skin’s color changing.

“This is a call to for your annual skin examinations. I’ve been trying to avoid mine because of my own anxiety for a long time. However, when @kylerichards18 spotted my back and found that it was changing colors I was immediately taken to the doctor who in a matter of minutes told me it looked like melanoma. She then performed an extensive removal,” she said on Instagram in the moment. She added that she hopes that her experiences will serve as an opportunity “to be proactive about your skin.”

Mellencamp was married to the man she married Edwin Arroyave in the year 2011 and the couple welcomed their first baby girl, Slate just an year after. In 2014 the accountability coach welcomed a son, Cruz.
